HHO: Introduce yourself to the fans

Andre Black: My name is Andre Black, stage name DRE-B, from Killeen, Texas! To sum it all up, my music is the truth, it’s never fabricated, it’s all real, it’s versatile, and it’s all me!

HHO: How did your artist name come about?

Andre Black:  I’ve always had the nickname Dre, since my government name is Andre’. I just added the B so people around the city would know exactly which Dre they were talking about since there were a few people named Dre. When I started making music, I just stuck with what the streets knew me as instead of trying to recreate something else. I was popular with that already, so it would be easier just to ride with it.

HHO: Where are you from?

Andre Black: I was born in Killeen, Texas but spent my childhood in a small town called Summerville, Georgia with my grandparents. Came back to Killeen as a teen and been back and forth ever since. They both my home and both are number 1! K-Town to the Ville, that’s what I’m repping for!

HHO: Who were your musical influences growing up?

Andre Black: I’ve had quite a few musical influences throughout my life. As a child, I was in to oldies such as The Isley Brothers and Freddie Jackson. I was an old soul at a young age because as children, we attach ourselves to those things shown from our parents, and my mother kept a collection of the best and danced with me to it. Still, to this day, the oldies are a favorite, but as I got older and got more into the street life, I was inspired by artist like T.I., Lil Boosie, Lil Wayne, and Z-Ro. It was the authenticity within their lyrics that grab me. That and the ability to be able to relate to everything the spoke about.

HHO: What hip-hop albums did you grow up listening to?

Andre Black: I’m Serious & Urban Legend from T.I., anything from Boosie, everything from Lil Wayne, and everything from Z-Ro. There wasn’t any switching up from those few unless I was riding with the radio playing.

HHO: What is the current single/project that you are promoting?

Andre Black: I’m Up is the single that my team and I are pushing currently. To date, it’s by far my biggest song out and gaining the most traction. From the audio to the visual, it’s going crazy!

HHO: How did the record come about?

Andre Black: The record came about because me and the team were planning a trip to Miami to shoot some music videos and I wanted to create a song specifically for that Miami vibe. Something fun and turned up. Something everybody could vibe to and just let loose.

HHO: What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?

Andre Black: If I had to use the word “dream” for a collaboration, it would definitely be working with Drake. The man is a musical genius across a wide variety. He don’t miss. I would also like to work with Dababy. I feel we have some similarities and would match real well on a song.

HHO: Are you currently touring or have any upcoming shows?

Andre Black: Currently, no tours are lined up but something major is on the table for the end of July in Miami, Florida!

HHO: How is the response from your fans & djs been?

Andre Black: Man, the response from the fans, supporters, djs, and really just everybody has been stupid crazy. Everybody watching my videos, recording themselves playing my music in their cars or at home, djs spinning my record in clubs, prime time radio blasting it…..The feedback has just been amazing and I’m thankful for everybody that’s rocking with me. They love it and I love them for it.

HHO: What artists do you listen to the most?

Andre Black: Currently, I’m listening to Lil Durk the most to be honest. His style is crazy and the melodic way he spits that real life just touches my soul. I can relate and what I can relate to, I’ll always be a fan of.

HHO: What are your plans for 2021? What are you doing that others are not?

Andre Black: There’s nothing different in 2021 that’s not been in me since I stepped off the porch with this. It’s just more money now so there’s more I can accomplish with being independent, but the formula is still the same. Create, promote, push, and expand! I’m always looking to branch out and build new relationships as well as strengthen the ones already in place. I’m just waiting on my big break!

HHO: How can your fans reach you?

Andre Black: Anybody interested in following me or just seeing what I have going on and what I’m about, you can google me at DRE-B and choose which route you want to take. I’m everywhere. My Instagram is dre_b_scmg and that’s on every other platform as well. All music streaming sources, just search for DRE-B. I’ll be right there!

HHO: Any last words or shout outs?

Andre Black: I wanna thank the lord for giving me the strength to make it this far, shout out to you all at HipHop Overload for the opportunity, thanks to my family and friends for always riding with me through thick and thin, and huge shout out to my fans and supporters because you all are the back bone of all of this. You make me elevate!
